Engine Out!

ImageIt's a scenario all of us think about, but few of us ever experience.

Thirsty Approach

ImageThe desert came calling for August's "Where Am I?" contest.

Archer Bravo Member Mark Schindler was the first to correctly guess this photo was taken while approaching Runway 31L at Palm Springs International (PSP) in California.

The photo was snapped on a modified straight-in approach after a short flight over the Salton Sea in a Cessna 172SP rented at The Flight School at Palm Springs.

It was calm on this day, but towering mountains just to the south of the field can create some hectic turbulence on windy days through the Banning Pass.

Congrats Mark! A new Archer Bravo t-shirt is on its way.

"Where Am I?" - September

It's time to take our beloved "Where Am I?" contest to an international destination.

This one-way in, one-way out field is tucked inside the mouth of one of the world's most beautiful Sounds.

This is an English-speaking country.

And if that's not enough of a hint: think Lord of the Rings.

The first person to submit the correct guess gets a NEW Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt and bragging rights in next month's newsletter.

Scarlet Lady

ImageAugust's "What Am I?" contest took us to the bustling ramp at Los Angeles International Airport, where this four-engined beauty was getting ready to push back.

Archer Bravo Member John Roebuck was the ONLY member to correctly identify the aircraft as an Airbus A340-600.

Many guesses came in, ranging from 747 to 777. In fact, this Airbus belongs to Virgin Atlantic for its daily hop to Heathrow. The company named it Scarlet Lady - born in October 2006.

Congrats John! An Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad is on the way!

What Am I? - September

ImageLet's head to the open ocean for September's "What Am I?" contest.

You'll have to peer through the steam to get this one right, but that should be a hint in itself, not to mention the three people standing in the foreground.

Bonus points for anyone who can tell us what the aircraft is primarily used for.

The first person to correctly guess will win an Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad, and a mention in our next newsletter.
