In our October newsletter, we play games with the checkerboard, find some floats, and pretend we're the NTSB...

What Really Happened Here?

ImageA pilot crashes his Cessna on the runway. Witnesses say one thing, but our Bravo Blogger just happened to be at the airport, and thinks the accident was caused by something else.

Pop Quiz, Hot Shot

ImageWe went back to school in our September "Where Am I?" contest, and apparently many of you did your homework.

Archer Bravo member Bruce Robertson was the first to correctly identify the picture taken at the University Airport (EDU) near UC Davis in California.

This photo was snapped on approach to Runway 35, set in between fields and not far from the school known for its agricultural programs.

Congrats Bruce, an Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt is on the way.

Where Am I? - October

ImageLet's get nostalgic for this month's "Where Am I?" contest, and find a final approach loathed by pilots, but loved by aviation enthusiasts.

The checkerboard in the background should be a dead giveaway to the airport that saw its share of close-calls until its final landing in 1998.

The first person to submit the correct guess gets an Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt and bragging rights in next month's newsletter.

What Am I? - October

ImageWe went for a walk along Oregon's Willamette River recently, and couldn't help but notice this month's "What Am I?" aircraft.

Its floats are basking in the sun, and it might just be the perfect morning for a cruise up into the Gorge. But what kind of seaplane is this?

The first person to correctly guess wins an Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad.

Q-School

ImageLast month's "What Am I?" contest looked into the sun and found a turboprop perhaps known for the wrong reasons.

Archer Bravo Member Mark Carino was the first to correctly identify it as a Dash 8 Q400.

Most recently known for "outsmarting" two pilots over Buffalo before crashing, it has quickly become a reliable workhorse for regional operations.

Congrats Mark! An Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad is on the way!
