In our June newsletter, we find a South American surprise, a lakefront landing-strip, and a worst-case scenario...

Landing In The Trees

ImageOur latest Bravo Blog gets tossed and turned as a pilot and his friends are forced to land in the trees...

In June's other postings, a captain over 60 dies during an overseas flight, but we think the new retirement rule still worked perfectly. A dog defeats a turboprop on final, we find-out why the NTSB "Go Team" didn't go to Air France 447, and reflect on an amazing sight from high above a very lonely ocean.

Busiest Concrete

ImageWe pounded some popular pavement for May's "Where Am I?" contest.

Archer Bravo member Mark Carino was the first to correctly identify the airport as the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) in Georgia.

It ranks as the world's busiest airport, and recently opened a 5th runway (bottom of the picture) along with Taxiway Victor, which sinks 30 feet into the ground for uninterrupted takeoffs on an adjacent runway.

Congrats Mark. An Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt is on the way.

Where Am I? - June

ImageFrom a landlocked giant, to a waterfront beauty. June's "Where Am I?" contest gives you access to one of America's Great Lakes.

And no, before you go down that bitter road, it wasn't bulldozed by that crazy mayor from Chicago. It was, however, recently used for a Grand Prix race.

The first person to submit the correct guess gets an Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt and bragging rights in next month's newsletter.

Tex-Mex Fly-In

Image$100 Hamburgers are good. But free nachos are better. And that's why we can't help but point out a uniquely themed Tex-Mex Fly-In this coming Saturday (June 27th) at the Denton Airport (DTO) in Texas.

It's hosted by the good folks at the US Flight Academy. And if you can't make it this time around, the fly-ins are held on the last Saturday of each month.

What Am I? - June

ImageOur latest "What Am I?" contest challenges the notion that regional jets tend to have engines in the back.

In fact, this Brazilian beauty has found its niche flying short hops in select US markets. And its quiet, high-tech ride is impressing passengers and pilots alike.

The first person to correctly guess the type of aircraft wins an Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad.

Fastest What Am I

ImageWe got some quick answers for last month's "What Am I?" contest responding to a picture of the world's fastest business jet.

Archer Bravo Member Hal LaCoste correctly identified the rocket as the Cessna Citation X. It cruises at Mach .92. Only the planned Gulfstream 650 will fly faster.

Congrats Hal! An Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad is on the way!
