Where Am I? - January

ImageLet's go international for our first "Where Am I?" contest of the new year.

This airport's notoriously short runway has grown over the years, so much so that designers had to ditch the landfill and use 180 columns to extend the centerline, literally!

Engineers were impressed worldwide, because the airport won the coveted Outstanding Structures Award.

The first person to submit the correct guess gets an Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt and bragging rights in next month's newsletter.

You Give Us Hope

ImageA tail and a tower were enough to tip off our eagle-eyed members in last month's "Where Am I?" contest.

Archer Bravo member Jim McNamara was the first to correctly identify the picture taken on a rare IFR day at the Bob Hope Airport (BUR) in Burbank, California.

This Southern California reliever airport is popular with Southwest and other discount carriers, and was renamed after the late comedian in 2003.

Congrats Jim, an Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt is on the way.

Moving & Expanding

ImageOne of the nation's most-experienced flight schools, and an original Archer Bravo Aviation parter, is moving airports and expanding its services. Wright Flyers is relocating to the New Braunfels Municipal Airport in the San Antonio area, and is now offering a low-cost full-motion simulator. Stop by if you're in the area.

Stumped on the Ramp

ImageMaybe you can blame it on a bout of holiday amnesia, but we finally stumped you!

For the first time ever, no one correctly answered last month's "What Am I?" contest.

Yes, it was a bit more difficult, as we asked you to name all four aircraft pictured in the photo.

From bottom to top, you're looking at a Virgin America Airbus A320, a Qantas and British Airways Boeing 747, and a KLM MD-11, parked on the ramp at San Francisco International Airport.

Better luck this month...

What Am I? - January

ImageThis month's "What Am I?" contest might flood your mind with memories of some Hollywood dog fights and a pilot named Maverick.

But those days are done, as this aircraft no longer flies for the US Navy.

Bonus points if you can tell us where this photo was taken (recognize that famous control tower in the background?).

The first person to correctly guess the type of aircraft wins an Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad.
