Our last newsletter of 2008 takes you to a very seasonal airport, to a runway with skid-marks that paint a terrifying picture, and then onto a wet ramp with a well-known workhorse...

Where Am I? - December

ImageIt's only fitting that December's "Where Am I?" contest takes us north for the winter to a gravel runway more fitting for hoofs than aircraft tires.

Ok, that's your first hint. But there's more. This time of year, you better be current at night. The sun rises around 11am and sets just after 2:30pm. And watch-out for a very unique call sign in the pattern - maybe something like N-SANTA.

The first person to submit the correct guess gets an Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt and bragging rights in next month's newsletter.

Sand? I Don't See Sand!

ImageNovember's "Where Am I?" contest found a nice Northwestern getaway, tucked tightly between rows of trees, perfect for that weekend camping or golfing getaway for those in Spokane.

Archer Bravo Member Devin Brown was the first to identify the Sand Canyon Airport (1S9) in Chewelah, Washington. He says he flies there frequently from Felts Field.

A big thanks to Brad Lewandowski, who snapped this picture on approach to Runway 17.

Congrats Devin! A new Archer Bravo t-shirt is on its way.

Tale of the Tire Marks

ImageIt's unusual that a near-miss is so well preserved. But the skid-marks you see here paint a frightening picture at a busy airport. As the NTSB investigates, our Bravo Blogger jumps to some surprising conclusions...

Survey Says...

The results of our latest survey are in, and you've made it very clear you don't fly as much as you'd like to. But why not? Find out if your reason is also keeping your fellow pilots out of the sky...

What Am I? - December

ImageIn keeping with our winter theme, we head to a wet airport ramp surrounded by snow-capped peaks for this month's "What Am I?" contest.

This well-known workhorse just touched-down and is being ushered into its parking spot before off-loading passengers from the jet stairs.

Bonus points if you can tell us which airline operates this beauty.

The first person to correctly guess the type of aircraft wins an Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad, and a mention in our next newsletter.

Jet-Setting to A Private Island

ImageEvery wonder if airplanes get lonely on the ramp? Perhaps the machine in November's "What Am I?" contest actually likes it.

Archer Bravo Member Jon Lammers was the first to correctly identify the pictured aircraft as a Dassault Falcon 50.

The triple-engine Falcon is patiently parked at the Lanai City Airport on the private island of Lanai in Hawaii. Quick trivia: it's where Microsoft founder Bill Gates got married.

The jet, by the way, is registered to The Guitar Center. What a sweet note.

Congrats Jon! An Archer Bravo Aviation mousepad is on the way!
