Our August newsletter finds a stormy day in the mid-West, a corporate jet ready to taxi, a surreal-looking firefighter, and a chaotic scene in the streets...

A Mangled 747

ImageIt's a sight fit only for a crash investigator. A shattered fuselage. Smoldering wreckage. So how did this month's casual Bravo Blogger suddenly find himself surrounded by a wrecked jumbo jet?

Where Am I? - August

ImageFor frequent travelers through this airport, it's a dreaded sight. Dark, wet skies and the inevitable ensuing delays.

That should be your first hint in this month's "Where Am I?" contest.

We snapped this photo from a United Airlines Boeing 767 taxiing for departure at this major Midwest hub.

NEW RULES: You no longer have to be the first person to name this airport. Just submit your guess and the Archer Bravo t-shirt winner will be drawn at random!

Sweet Home Alabama

ImageLast month we needed some real help finding the field in our "Where Am I?" contest. And you came through.

After referencing satellite shots, we can confirm Archer Bravo member Rick Carter correctly identified this photo taken high above Mobile Regional Airport (MOB), and even referenced its wartime name, Bates Field.

We guessed somewhere in Louisiana. We guessed wrong.

Congrats Rick. An Archer Bravo Aviation t-shirt is on the way.

August: Is It Real or Fake?

ImageIt's fire season, and we've seen many of those big turbo-prop air tankers. But this? Tell us if this is real or airbrushed by going to our Facebook page and leaving a comment under the photo of this tanker...

What Am I? - August

ImageEnvy might be the best way to describe this month's "What Am I?" contest.

This beautiful business jet, though perhaps the enemy of a few lawmakers, is sitting poised for an important mission on the ramp at the Van Nuys Airport (VNY).

18th Fairway, Fore!

ImageLast month's "What Am I?" contest found us on the fairway with our ears covered and heads tilted skyward.

And Archer Bravo member Jim Davis yelled "fore" first, correctly naming this aircraft as the Sikorsky CH-53 Sea Stallion.

We snapped this photo while golfing in Las Vegas just yards from the golden towers of Mandalay Bay.

Congrats Jim, an Archer Bravo mousepad is on the way.
